Project Management - Construction/Execution Phase of HV

Onshore/Offshore Power Projects

GM Power Management Services Limited is an established project delivery company, working within the electricity supply & distribution industry at all voltage levels, from 11kV up to the 400kV. 

Experience

  • Offshore AC grid access connections, comprising Offshore Transformer Modules and Onshore Substations – for Offshore Wind Farm connections in the UK and overseas.
  • Offshore DC grid access connections, comprising Offshore and Onshore Converter Stations – for Offshore Wind Farm connections and multi-Terminal connections both domestic and overseas.
  • HVDC Interconnectors – for Interconnecting the national electricity infrastructure grids across international borders.
  • Provide project management and project engineering expertise to HV projects in transmission system operator environments.
  • Support client projects by providing engineering expertise in one of the following areas: HV Substations, STATCOM or HVDC projects.
  • Define specific project scopes, engineering, and equipment requirements for STATCOM, Substation OR HVDC projects.
  • Review and approve technical guidelines for specialist equipment or components.
  • Develop project milestones, budgets, forecasts, subcontracting strategies and manpower requirements for the project.
  • Oversee design, construction, installation, or delivery phases of projects as Project Manager upholding QHSE and contractual obligations.
  • Provide diplomatic stakeholder management, subcontractor management.
  • Provide as required economic or technical alternatives to solve project challenges.

HV Electrical Package Management, Including Associated Auxiliary Systems

  • Responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of various electrical packages ranging in value from £5-£10 million respectively. The activities associated with the project will vary and will be agreed with our Clients Project Management on an ongoing basis.  
  • Coordinate electrical design, work with consultants and subcontractors.
  • Supervise the progress of work.
  • Prepare the project programme with planners, including the delivery strategy and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Ensure smooth and timely flow of information between all parties/stakeholders.
  • Identify and predict potential bottlenecks and delays and implement solutions.
  • Keeping the project stakeholders informed of progress, cost, and any other relevant issues.
  • Review project scope and manage the budget and schedule.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Manage safety and quality aspects of the project in accordance with company procedures.

Clients Representative - HV Substation Construction

  • Act as 'the eyes and ears’ for Client’s regarding on and offshore operations and ensure that work procedures and management of change are followed.
  • Ensure that health & safety is managed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all installation activities daily throughout the execution phase.
  • Ensure that all relevant approved procedures and risk assessments are followed by the contractor.
  • Ensure the contractor proactively manages safety and quality.
  • Act, behave and lead by example according to client's values.
  • Prepare and distribute Daily Progress Reports (DPR) as required.
  • Ensure the DPRs are signed by all required parties.
  • Review and understand RA/MS and QHSE documents as required before execution phase commences and keep updated on changes in the documents.
  • Attend daily meetings, toolbox talks and other discussions to ensure that the works are being carried out in a safe manner to the required quality.
  • During all defined key activities and otherwise as often as practicable be present as a witness during installation. Excess all work areas provided it is safe to do so.
  • Participate in safety walks with HSE representatives from the Client and contractor organisations.
